The Wendy’s Heisman Award strives to be among the national awards and honors for high schools students that students get excited about. Many high school scholar athletes will note their participation in the Wendy’s Heisman Program on their college applications as another way to distinguish themselves from other college applicants. We encourage high school guidance counselors and career centers to spread the word about our award for high school seniors so more students can get involved.

Alright, so you’ve gotten in your application and now you’re waiting to find out whether or not you made it to the next stage. What if I told you that there was something you could still be doing for the Wendy’s Heisman? There are probably more than a few juniors that you know that would have made great applicants this year had they been old enough. They’re your teammates, your classmates, club members with you.
Now, you already know what the Wendy’s High School Heisman could mean for your college application and beyond, but those juniors that you know might not know what a benefit being able to say that you’re a High School Heisman winner could be. Now is the time to let that teammate or classmate know what is awaiting them. Encourage them to apply in 2008 and not only could you be a Heisman Trophy winner, but so could the guy that sits behind you in English class.

With the deadline here (get those applications in already if you haven’t), many of you may be wondering what will happen from this point on. The first round of selections will occur in November, with those that have been selected to move on to the next round notified by the end of the month. This is possibly the hardest part of the entire application process – waiting to find out if you’ve made it to the next stage or not. We here at the Wendy’s High School Heisman want to say that while in the end only one young man and one young lady can win, each and every one of you that has taken the time to fill out an application and send it in should be proud of yourselves and deserves to be recognized.
Thank you to everybody that applied, your participation in this process is nothing short of amazing, and keep paying attention to the website. We will announce those selected for each stage here as they are notified, so keep an eye out to see if your friends and family have been selected to take one step closer to being named the next winner of the Wendy’s High School Heisman.
